It’s getting colder

I finally turned on the heat about a week ago.  It killed me to do that.  It did warm up for a day or two and now it’s getting cooler.  At least it’s above freezing.

I hadn’t been knitting much, but  this week I got back into it.  I worked on my second Must Stash Night at the Roxberry sock.  I used a size 1 needle with Must Stash yarn perfect sock in the color Night at the Roxberry using a basic sock pattern.

Must Stash - Night at the Roxberry - Sock 2

I couldn’t wait to start on another sock and since it’s close to Halloween, I cast on another Must Stash yarn perfect sock  in the color Oh Spooky.  I am using a size 1 needle with a basic sock pattern.  I plan on doing a heel flap for this sock, so I am going to use some black yarn for the heel.

Must Stash - Spooky Sock

I like knitting dishcloths and haven’t been knitting much of those lately.  I particularly like the pattern called Almost Lost Washcloth.  It’s a circular pattern and it knits up quickly.  I used a size 7 needle with Lion Brand Cotton in the Americana color.  The pattern calls for 14 points, but I made 15.

Almost Lost Washcloth - Americana

I also made a mini Almost Lost Washcloth in the same yarn and color.  This pattern calls for 9 points, but I knit 10.  This will make a great coaster.  I will definitely be making more of these.

Almost Lost Washcloth - mini

I have been buying yarn.  How can I refuse?  From Knit Purl I bought Bumblebirch yarn in the Glen base.  It’s a fingering yarn composed of 80% superwash yarn and 20% silk.  It’s beautiful yarn. I got a skein of fog and eggplant.

Bumblebirch - Glen

I also bought another skein of Lollipop Yarn in her Gripes base in the color Rebel without a Rainbow.

Lollipop Yarn - Gripes - Rebel without a Rainbow

Lastly, I got a Loopy Kit from the Loopy Ewe.  The pattern is by Susan B. Anderson and the yarn is from their Loopy Series in the colors red, tan and white.  This is such a cute pattern.

Loopy Kit

Well, must go knit some more.

I can’t believe it’s October!

I haven’t updated my blog since early September and I really haven’t been knitting too much.  I have been busy working and taking classes.  I think it has finally settled down and I can get back to the knitting.  I have already started and I am going crazy with casting on.

I did finish one of the Night at the Roxberry socks (except for the heel)  This is Perfect sock by Must Stash yarn in the color, Night at the Roxberry.  I am using a size 1 needle

Must Stash Sock - Night at the Roxberry - Sock 1

I want to do both afterthought heels when I finish both socks.  I just cast on for the second sock today.

I love Must Stash Yarn and was able to buy two more skeins.  I got Oh! Spooky in Perfect Sock and Elsa and Anna in her Ritz base.  I plan to cast on the Oh! Spooky very shortly to make the socks in time for Halloween.

Must Stash Yarn - Oct 2015

I am working on my second Antarktis shawl.  I am using Shalimar Breathless in the color scarab with a size 5 needle.  I am getting close to finishing this shawl.

Antarktis - Breathless

My local yarn shop got Malabrigo in, so I had to buy some of it.  I got the Malabrigo Mecha yarn in the color Candome.

Malabrigo - Mecha - Candome

So, I cast on for the Garter Stitch Eternity Cowl.  I am using a size 10 needle. I love the yarn.

Garter Stitch Eternity Scarf = Malabrigo

I did knit a dishcloth from the Dishcloth Diva book.  I made the organic dishcloth using a size 7 needle with Universal Cotton yarn in the color 611 turquoise.  I really didn’t like this yarn.  It was too soft for me.

Organic Dishcloth

Well, hopefully, I will be knitting more than I have been.

Where did the Summer go?

I can’t believe that it’s September.  I enjoy the fall, but dread the winter, especially if it snows a lot.  I think we may have lots of snow this year.  Oh Boy!

I finished the Flutterby baby blanket using Bella Chenille in the Pansy Purple color with a size 10.5 needle.  I really enjoyed knitting this and I love the yarn.  It’s so soft.

Flutterby Baby Blanket - Bella Chenille - purple

I like it so much that I bought more yarn to make a lapghan for me.  The color is Clover (color number 111).

Bella Chenile - Color 111

I love Lollipop yarn, but it is getting harder to get.  I was lucky to snag some yarn in the Gripes base in the color Blue Skies and Rainbows.  It came with a mini me skein in blue skies for the heels and toes.  I will probably only use it for the heel, but maybe I will change my mind.

Lollipop Yarn - Gripes Base - Blue Skies and Rainbows

I also got Trick or Treat in the Beefcake base with a mini me skein in the color pumpkin patch.

Lollipop Yarn - Beefcake Base - Trick or Treat

It’s almost like a game to me to see if I can get this yarn.  But, I really love it.

I am still knitting on my sock using Must Stash yarn in her perfect sock base in the color Night at the Roxberry.  I am using a size 1 needle and will be putting in an afterthought heel.

Must Stash - Night at the Roxberry - sock 1

I haven’t been knitting too much and have a lot of projects on the needles, so I need to get back to it.  Maybe the fall will be the incentive to knit.

Summer is coming to an end

I am still reading and knitting.  I did finish two projects.

The first is the Zig Zag sock.  I used Fleece Artist basic merino sock yarn in the color Rainforest with a size 1 needle.  I really love the sock and the color.  Sorry that the picture is dark, but the color is a dark green.

Zig Zag Socks - Complete

I also completed the Antarktis shawl using Araucania Italia Multy in the color 1001 with a size 5 needle.

Antarktis Shawl

I enjoyed knitting this shawl so much that I can on for another one for a gift.  I am using Shalimar Breathless in the color scarab with a size 5 needle.

Antarktis Shawl - Breathless - Scarab

I also cast on another sock using a basic sock pattern with Must Stash perfect sock in the color Night@ the Roxberry with a size 1 needle.  This is a self striping sock yarn.

Must Stash - Perfect sock - Night at the Roxberry

I did have to buy more self striping sock yarn.  I just love Desert Vista Dyeworks yarn, so I bought 3 colors.  Fireworks for the Fourth of July in the Zien base (a sparkle yarn), Harold’s purple crayon, and If they kill Abraham in her Viso base.

Desert Vista Dyeworks - August 15

Then, I couldn’t resist more Hazel Knits Artisan sock yarn in the color Tastes like Purple.

Must get knitting!

Too many neat projects to knit and not enough time.

I have been knitting, but I keep coming up with more projects to knit.

I finished the first Zig Zag sock.  I am using Fleece Artist basic merino sock yarn in the color Rainforest with a size 1 needle.

Zig Zag Sock 1

I am enjoying the pattern and think that I have knitted another sock in a similar pattern.

I’m almost finished with the Antarktis scarf and want to make another one using Shalimar Breathless in the color Scarab for someone else.  I would also like to make another one for myself.

Then I want to cast on for the Adamis cowl suing Madelinetosh vintage in grey garden.  I have a leftover skein of this from the Restoration cowl and another full skein of it.  That should be enough.

I still have the Flutterby baby blanket, hitchhiker, and Gale sweater on the needles.  It seems as if I can only handle two projects at a time.  I must get knitting!

Finishing–Thank goodness

I have been knitting quite a bit, but I finally finished two projects.

The Restoration Cowl is complete.  I used Madelinetosh vintage in grey garden with a size 7 needle.  I enjoyed knitting this project.

Restoration Cowl - complete

I also complete the Dark side of the Moon socks by Must Stash Yarn.  I used a size 1 needle (but it was a 2.5mm instead of a 2.25mm).  The sock is a little bigger on me, but fits okay.  I love the socks.

Must Stash - Dark Side of the Moon EPV - complete

I then started another sock called Zig Zag socks.  I am using Fleece Artist Basic merino yarn in the color Rainforest with a size 1 needle (2.25mm).  Of course, I love the color.  This yarn has been in my stash for a long time.

Zig Zag Sock

I also cast on for another shawl called Antarktis.  I am using a size 5 needle with Araucania Italia Multy yarn in the color 1001.  I think this will be a great shawl.

Antarktis - start

I got my next skein of sock yarn from Must stash yarn in her basic sock.  The color is Wish you were here.  This is another self striping yarn.  I love the colors.

Must Stash - Wish you were here

I have another cowl that I want to make and hopefully will cast on for that project soon.

A Rainy Dreary Day

It’s raining today.  I think it’s been raining most of June.  I guess it makes it a good day to knit.

I finished the Lemonade Shop Rainbow socks.  I used a size 0 needle with a basic sock pattern and an afterthought heel.  I love how these socks turned out.

Lemonade Rainbow Socks - complete

Then, I had to start a new sock.  I am using Must Stash yarn in the color Dark Side of the Moon EPV.  I am using a size 1 needle.  These socks are working up fast.

Must Stash - Dark Side of the Moon - EPV - sock 1 - leg

I also started to knit a cowl.  Its’s called the Restoration Cowl.  I am using Madelinetosh vintage yarn in the color Grey Garden with a size 7 needle.  I like this pattern and of course, I love the yarn.  Can you believe that I am using yarn from stash!

Restoration Cowl - 1

I love project bags and had to share these new bags I got from Craftsomatic on Etsy.  They are all medium size bags.  The bags are well made and I love the fabrics.  She usually puts new bags up in her shop on a Friday morning.

Well, off to do more knitting…..

It’s hot, but I’m knitting

It’s been hot the last two days, but it hasn’t stopped me from knitting.

I finished the first basic sock using Lemonade Shop Rainbow Stripe Yarn.  I am going to do an afterthought heel, but will knit that after finishing the second sock.

Lemonade Shop Sock - Rainbow

I did start on the second sock and have finished the leg and will be starting on the foot.

Lemonade Shop Sock 2 - Rainbow

I bought 3 skeins of Bella Bulky Chenille by Universal Yarns in the purple pansy color way.   The yarn is so soft that I had to buy it.  It is even softer than Flutterby Bulky Chenille.

Bella Chenille - Pansey

I started another baby blanket using this yarn.  I don’t know who this will be for.   The pattern is the Flutterby Baby Blanket.  I am using a size 10.5 needle.  I really love the yarn and may just buy more yarn in another color to make myself a lap blanket for winter.

Flutterby Baby Blanket - Bella Chenille - 2nd photo

I also started back on the Gale Sweater that I started last March.  I am using Plymouth Homestead in the color taupe heather.  I am using a size 11 needle for the body.  I am getting close to finishing the front.

Gale Sweater - Front -Decreases

I bought a pattern for sock earrings.  It came with the the wires for the earrings and I also bought the needles (a size 0000).

Sock Earrings

I got my first shipment of the Concert Series from Must Stash Yarn based on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon.  The color is called Dark Side of the Moon EPV.  The next shipment will be in July.  I can’t wait.

Must Stash - Dark Side of the Moon 2

I need to get back to the knitting!

Happy Memorial Day

It’s so hard to believe that it’s the end of May and we will be celebrating Memorial Day this weekend.  The last few days have been cool and today I have a picnic to go to .  Hope it warms up.  At least the sun is shining.

I finished the Cameo shawl.  I didn’t have enough of the red in one skein to finish the striping, but since I started this shawl last year, I forgot I bought two skeins of both colors.  So, I was able to finish the pattern as written.  I only needed one skein of the white.  I used Madelinetosh Tosh sock yarn in tart and farmhouse white with a size 5 needle.

Cameo Shawl - complete

I still need to block the shawl.  This is another pattern that called for the picot bindoff.  It wasn’t too bad as it didn’t have as many stitches as the Yowza weigh it shawl.

Since I have been so good, I cast on another sock.  I am using a basic sock pattern with a size zero needle.  I started with a size 1, but the pattern was pooling, so I dropped down a size.  The yarn is by Lemonade Shop and is the rainbow stripe color.  I already finished the leg on the first sock.  The yarn is really soft and nice to work with.

Lemonade Shop - Rainbow Stripe - sock 1 - leg

I plan on going back to the Gale sweater this weekend.  This is another project that I need to finish.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

More Finished Objects

I completed the Bulky Rayon Chenille Cowl using Blue Heron Bulky Rayon Chenille.  I used a size 6 needle.  I did wash and dry it.  The approximate size prior to washing was 46 inches and it grew to about 56 inches.  I panicked when it was drying as I didn’t think it was growing, so I stretched it.  I had to turn the dryer back on several times. Unfortunately, some of the side stitches broke.  I used needle and thread and sewed it back together.  I think it will be okay.  The cowl really softened up after washing and drying.  I will definitely make another, but will not stretch it.   I believe that it will grow once completely dry.

Bulky Rayon Chenille Cowl

I also finished the CookieA Hedera socks.  I can’t believe that I cast these on almost a year ago.  I used Hazel Knits Artisan Sock yarn in the Blueberry color with a size 1 needle.    I love this yarn.  The pattern was easy and I enjoyed it.

Hedera Sock Complete

I started back knitting the cameo shawl.  This is another project that is almost a year old.  I am knitting the striped section now and am more than half way completed.  I panicked because I didn’t think that I would have enough of the main color yarn (Madelinetosh sock in tart) to finish all of the striped repeats.  Good I checked Ravelry because I bought two skeins of both colors, so I will have enough.  I am using Madelinetosh sock in tart and farmhouse white with a size 5 needle.

Cameo Shawl - Striped section

It feels good to finish my knitting projects.  After the cameo shawl, I will go back and finish the Gale sweater.  I’m being real good and not casting on any new projects.  That helps a lot.

It feels good to finish projects

I am finished with the Yowza Weigh it Shawl.  I used Miss Babs Yowza yarn in the color prince with a size 7 needle.  The knitting wasn’t bad, but the picot bindoff was torture.  I couldn’t wait to finish it, but it got nice.  I do need to block it though.

Yowza Weigh it Shawl 1 - complete

I also finished the first Hedera Sock by Cookie A.  I am using Hazel Knits Artisan Sock yarn in the color blueberry with a size 1 needle.  I love Hazel Knits Artisan sock yarn.  The stitch definition is wonderful.

Hedera Sock -1

I cast on for the second sock, but I’m currently trying to finish the Blue Heron Bulky Chenille Cowl.  I am close to finishing this project, so I think that I will keep at it.  Interesting that these 3 projects are in the blue family.

I also bought some Universal Yarn in Cotton Supreme.  I need cotton yarn like I need a hole in my head, but I wanted to try this cotton yarn out.  I will make a washcloth out of it.

Universal Yarn - Cotton Supreme - color 611

So, this week my goals are to finish the cowl, cast on the washcloth and make progress on the second Hedera sock.  Here’s hoping that I can do it.
